LA LIBERAZIONE DI PESARO

9.4. La liberazione di Pesaro. I polacchi il primo settembre occupavano Pesaro tentando di intrappolare i paracadutisti tedeschi prima di andare in riserva il due settembre. Il Bollettino della Ottava Armata di questo giorno riportava la notizia nel modo seguente: “POLES TAKE PESARO. Advanced Allied H.Q. Thursday. After a sharp tank and infantry battle Polish troop have occupied Pesaro the important town on the Adriatic coast south of the Gothic Line. Crossing the River Foglia on a broad front, Eight Army patrols in Adriatic sector have met strong resistance in forcing the enemy to fall back into the Gothic line positions on the high ground to the north of the River. For 16 miles inland there appear to be no German troops south of the Foglia River1.
